Class 2C material is a stony, cohesive material that is typically used as a general fill material in the construction of highways.
The grading requirements are set out in Series 600 of the Earthwork of the Specification for Highway Works.
It can be produced using both quarried or recycled materials.
It’s described as any material, or combination or materials other than chalk.
If the material is to be used within the construction of highways then it must meet the specifications set tout in Series 600 Earthworks of the Specification for highway works.
This ensures the durability & consistence of constructed highways.
