What is Class 1C Material?

Class 1C material is a coarse granular material that is typically used as a general fill.

The grading requirements are set out in Series 600 Earthwork of the Specification for Highway Works.

 

What materials can be used to produce Class 1C?

It can be produced using a combination of materials, other than material designated as Class 3 in the contract.

This means it can be produced using more quarried & recycled materials.

 

What are the specifications?

If the material is to be used within the construction of highways it must meet the specification set out in Series 600 Earthworks of the Specification of Highway Work.
