What is Class 2A material?

Class 2A is a wet cohesive material that is is typically used as a general fill material.

The grading requirements are set out in Series 600 Earthwork of the Specification for Highway Works.

 

What materials can be used to produce Class 2A

It can be producing using both quarried or recycled materials.

The permitted constituents set out within the document states is can be produced using ‘Any material, or combination of materials, other than chalk’.

 

What are the specifications?

If the material is to be used in the construction of highways then it must meet the specifications in Series 600 Earthworks of the Specification for Highway Work.

Compliance with these specification ensure the durability, safety and reliability of highways.
